Course Description:

This course, offered by DOMEX Strength and Fitness, LLC, is designed to prepare individuals aspiring to become Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agents to be properly educated and more physically prepared for the DEA Physical Task Assessment (PTA). The program is a comprehensive three-month training regimen that covers all aspects of the DEA PTA which includes the following: sit-ups, 300-meter run, push-ups, and the 1.5-mile run. Course Objectives:

  1. Prepare candidates for optimal performance in the DEA PTA.
  2. Develop both anaerobic and aerobic conditioning.
  3. Focus on proper form and technique for PTA exercises.

1. Introduction to DEA (PTA)

2. Mesocycle 1 (Weeks 1-4)
  • Initial program design for PTA events.
  • Upper/Lower body structured workouts that mimic the movement patterns and energy systems needed to improve your PTA events.
  • Optional resistance training programmed.
  • Programmed de-load blocks to prevent overtraining.
  • Conduct self assessment.
3. Mesocycle 2 (Weeks 5-8)
  • Middle phase of preparation which follows a linear progression model.
  • Optional resistance training programmed.
  • Programmed de-load blocks to prevent overtraining.
  • Conduct self assessment.
4. Mesocycle 3 (Weeks 9-12)
  • Final phase of preparation devised in a linear progression model and then a taper to prepare for the “test day.”
  • Optional Resistance Training (ORT) programmed.
  • Programmed de-load blocks to prevent overtraining.
  • Conduct self assessment.

Course Requirements:

  1. Commitment to follow the program diligently.
  2. Regular self-assessment to track progress as programmed.
  3. Optional participation in resistance training sessions to maintain lean muscle mass for muscular endurance and cardio based capacity for the events tested in the DEA PTA.
  4. Adherence to proper nutrition and hydration guidelines.
  5. Conducting self-assessment tests under simulated testing conditions.

Currently employed as Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent, I had the fortunate chance to work with Dan for several years.
