I met Daniel through mutual friends and quickly realized that we shared a strong common interest: a fascination with the function of the human body, particularly in the context of fitness and athletic performance. We were especially aligned in understanding how critical fitness is for professionals in physically demanding fields like law enforcement.
As I got to know Daniel better, I was struck by the depth of his knowledge in sports fitness and performance. I asked him to design a fitness program tailored to help me achieve two specific goals:
- To comfortably run a 5K
- To score 100% on my annual physical fitness exam—without completely exhausting myself in the process.

The physical fitness test I needed to pass consisted of the following, completed in three rounds with one minute of rest between rounds:
- One minute of wall balls (20lb ball / 10ft target / 18” seat)
- One minute of sumo deadlift high pulls (75lb kettlebell)
- One minute of the 20-inch box jumps
- One minute of push presses (75lb)
- One minute of rowing (resistance level 10)
Last year, I scored 85% on this exam. After completing Daniel’s program this year, I scored 102%—a dramatic improvement. More importantly, I finished the test without feeling completely exhausted, which was a first for me.
Daniel’s program identified and strengthened my muscular weaknesses, improved my cardiovascular capacity, and helped me exceed my goals. At 52 years old, I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life—and I believe I still have another 10% to gain with continued effort. I look better, feel stronger, and can now outperform many of my peers in fitness classes.
